Stevo Atambire bemoans lack of investment in Kologo music

Renowned Kologo musician Stevo Atambire has attributed the limited success of Kologo musicians in the Upper East Region to their lack of investment in their craft. According to him, many artists prioritize material acquisitions over improving the quality of their music, sound production, and promotional activities.

“Those with vision are few in the system,” Stevo remarked during an interview on Zina-Yale with Moses Apiah. “The young ones don’t look up to those who have vision for the craft. The focus is on launching albums and using the proceeds to buy houses or material things, rather than investing in the craft for the international market.”

Stevo, widely regarded as a legend in Kologo music, highlighted how this approach hampers the growth and global reach of the genre.

He noted that many musicians struggle to excel beyond the region because they lack the diversity and professionalism required to meet industry standards elsewhere.

He further lamented that some artists are content with their limited fanbase within the region, showing little ambition to penetrate other regions or international markets.

Stevo contrasted this with his own career, emphasizing the importance of expanding one’s audience and maintaining a global outlook.

“Kologo music has the potential to go far, but only if artists take deliberate steps to improve their craft and market themselves beyond their comfort zones,” he stressed.

Stevo’s call serves as a wake-up call for Kologo musicians to rethink their priorities, embrace innovation, and focus on building a sustainable future for the genre.
