9 candidates to contest Upper East Regional Council of State seat

Nine distinguished individuals from diverse backgrounds have picked up nomination forms to contest for the Upper East Region’s seat on the Council of State under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

The contenders, comprising traditional leaders, academics, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and development experts, aim to represent the region and contribute to national governance.

Among the candidates is Mr. Thomas More, a retired nurse and CEO of Ayamfooya Memorial Clinic, who brings extensive experience in healthcare and community service. Mr. Peter Baba Aluze-ele, a seasoned entrepreneur, seeks to leverage his business expertise for the region’s economic advancement. The paramount chief of Chiana, PE Ditundini Adiali Ayagitam III, who also serves as the president of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, brings leadership and deep cultural insights.

Other aspirants include Mr. Elias Ayinbila Apasiya, a lecturer and librarian, and Mr. Arabogo Ben Azumah, a social worker passionate about community development. Mr. Justice Aduko, an environmental and climate change consultant, hopes to bring sustainability issues to the forefront. The paramount chief of Navrongo, Navro Pio Balinia Adda Dennis II, a renowned farmer, believes in championing agricultural policies. Additionally, Mr. Bismark Adongo, a development worker, and Mr. Desmond Ayambire Abire, a project officer, are also vying for the position.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Williams Obeng Adarkwah, Upper East Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), confirmed that the EC is fully prepared for the election in the coming days.

He revealed that about 30 electorate members are expected to cast their votes.
