Professor Albert Luguterah, Vice Chancellor of CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS), attributes the university’s recent recognition among Ghana’s top ten universities to the unwavering dedication and expertise of its teaching staff.
Despite being established in 2019, CKT-UTAS secured the 10th position in the 2025 rankings by the AD Scientific Index, a testament to its rapid progress in the academic arena.
In an interview with A1 Radio, Professor Luguterah emphasized that while the university may lack the extensive infrastructure of older institutions, its commitment to quality education and research has been pivotal to its success. He stated, “Our facilities or infrastructure do not speak volumes, but the quality of our staff and the work we do is substantial, and we are happy that our efforts are being acknowledged by the scientific community.”
Highlighting the university’s achievements, Professor Luguterah noted CKT-UTAS’s consistent national and international recognition, particularly through its success in the ENACTUS entrepreneurship and innovation challenge.
The university has represented Ghana on the global stage for the past four years, consistently ranking among the top 16 teams worldwide, showcasing its ability to compete with established institutions in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Despite limited resources, CKT-UTAS has fostered a culture of excellence by recruiting quality staff and creating an environment where experienced faculty mentor younger colleagues.
Professor Luguterah remarked, “We are taking our time to recruit quality staff, with senior members mentoring the younger ones. Our numerous collaborations and partnerships enable our staff to deliver effectively, despite the limited infrastructure and facilities.”
He further acknowledged the university’s rich administrative history, stating, “We are a young university, but our roots are old,” underscoring that strong foundations and leadership have contributed to CKT-UTAS’s swift rise in Ghana’s academic landscape. Professor Luguterah expressed confidence that the university’s continued focus on developing its human capital and fostering partnerships will allow it to overcome infrastructure challenges and continue making significant strides in education and research.
